KARACHI: Power project to be launched in Thar


KARACHI, March 1: Sindh chief secretary K. B. Rind, on his return from China, said here on Saturday that a hydrological project would be launched in the Thar desert.

He said a team of Chinese experts would be arriving soon to initiate hydrological investigations in the desert and submit a report on the use of subsoil water for power generation

He said that installation of the power generation plant by using the Thar coal reserves would help provide employment opportunities to the people of Thar and other backward areas of Sindh.

He said that a 15-km-long road was being constructed from Islamkot to Thar coal field.—APP
