New American non-immigrant visa forms from today
ISLAMABAD, Feb 28: The US Embassy starts using a new version of the non-immigrant visa application form, DS 156, from March 1, says a Press release issued here on Friday.
According to an embassy statement all people applying for a non-immigrant visa after March 1 should make sure that they use the new version of the form.
The form is available on the internet at the State Department‘s web site: http://travel.state.gov/visaforms.html. The courier services, American Express and Gerry‘s Federal Express will also provide the form free of charge.
“We remind applicants to pay close attention to the required dimensions for the photograph indicated on the new application form, aid the please release.
“The photograph must measures 2 inches by 2 inches (approximately 5cm or 50mm square) with no border. The background must be off-white. The face should cover about 50 per cent of the photo and measure between 1 inch and 1/8 (25mm to 35mm). The eyes should be between 11/8 and 13/8 (28mm to 35mm) from the bottom of the photo. The photo must be full face with the applicant looking straight into the camera. The hair from the crown should be visible and the ears should be exposed.”
It said these requirements would be strictly enforced, and applicants who did not submit the correct photos would encounter delays.
The ultimate purpose is to enhance the security of the American non-immigrant visa, it added.
