KARACHI, Feb 27: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has appealed to the President, Pervaiz Musharraf, and Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad to allow the city government establish a women’s university in the city and pledged to accomplish this cherished objective with the help of masses.
Speaking at a Naat competition at the Sir Syed Girls College, he listed his efforts for enhancing the standard of education in Karachi and said that the setting up of a women’s university was also among his priorities.
Referring to shortage of teachers and other staff in the health department owing to ban on jobs, he urged the Sindh chief minister and governor to announce a decision to help overcome the shortage of staff.
He claimed that different measures of city government in respect of proliferation of education has started yielding desired results as in the recent past a 16 per cent increase has been witnessed in admissions in public-run institutions.—PPI
