Man commits murder to please wife

By Our Correspondent

GUJRAT, Feb 23: A man killed a trader in Lalamusa just to please his estranged wife and bring her back to his house, police determined 35 days after the murder.

Farid was sitting inside his shop in Seda Behram locality when two motorcyclists shot him.

Sadar SHO Moazzam Ali told newsmen on Sunday that it was a blind case for police as the heirs of the slain had not nominated any suspect. Though Farid’s family denied any enmity, police learnt that they had been in litigation with their neighbour Amin over a property dispute.

Further investigation revealed that Amin’s daughters, all married, had quarrelled with the mother and sisters of the slain seven days prior to the murder.

When Farid learnt that his mother had been maltreated by Amin’s girls, he whipped out his pistol and created a scene in the street.

Under the light of the gathered information, police lifted Amin and his sons for interrogation. Amin informed police that his daughter Bushra might be involved in the crime. Police detained Bushra who had confessed to plotting the murder.

Bushra said a few days after the brawl with Farid’s family, her husband Lateef met her and sought reunion. However, she told him that he had to eliminate Farid if he wanted her back. “I told my husband how Farid used filthy language against me and other members of my family,” the SHO quoted her as saying.

After committing the murder, Lateef along with some notables of the area visited his in-laws and reconciled with his estranged wife.

To a query, SHO Moazzam Ali said that Bushra could not tell the name of Lateef’s accomplice. Nevertheless, he said, police were after the main accused.
