KARACHI: Minorities demand seats in Senate

KARACHI, Feb 23: Criticizing non-representation of minorities in the Senate of Pakistan, the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (Apma) demanded on Sunday that the government should allocate seats for minorities in the upper house of parliament.

Speaking at a press conference, Apma leaders Salim Khursheed Khokhar and Michael Javed termed non-representation of minorities in Senate a conspiracy and discriminatory attitude against them, and said that Senate had been made a “no-go area” for minorities.

They accused the government of having double standards and maintained that on the one hand it talked about empowering minorities and on the other, minorities were being deprived of representation.—PPI
