KARACHI, Feb 20: Mahmood A.R. who coached former Test captain Javed Miandad, Anil Dalpat, Iqbal Sikander and many other famous cricketers, died early Thursday morning at his Saddar residence.

A former Sindh Pentangular’s wicket-keeper/batsman, Mahmood who was 80 years old, was a member of the managing body of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA), a post he held for several years and was ever ready to coach and lend a helping hand to many budding cricketers.

KCCA Honorary Secretary Prof Sirajul Bukhari with the President, Munir Hussain and the rest of the members of the KCCA Managing Committee, along with a former member Dalpat Sonavaria, paid their condolences for Mahmood, who is survived by his son Muzzammil.

Mahmood was buried on Thursday night at the Lawrence Road graveyard. His funeral was attended by many former Test and provincial cricketers not to mention a host of his friends and admirers.
