Milestones in Mushaf’s PAF career


ISLAMABAD, Feb 20: The following is the bio-data of Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, who was killed when the F-27 aircraft in which he was travelling crashed near Kohat Thursday morning.

Mushaf Mir was born on March 5, 1947. He completed his initial education from Government College Lahore and was commissioned in the General Duties (Pilot) Branch of PAF in January, 1967.

Apart from serving as fighter pilot in various squadrons, he qualified flying instructors and combat commissioners courses.

He was a graduate of PAF Staff College and Armed Force War Course at the National Defence College. His career appointments included command of a fighter squadron, a fighter wing, an operational base and a regional air command of the PAF.

He also held prestigious staff appointments like Director Operations, Chief Protocol Director-Project Falcon, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Plans) and Chief Project Director Project Green Flash.

His assignments abroad included deputation to Abu Dhabi and posting to the US as representative of the PAF with USAF. He also served as Director General PAC Kamra and was appointed Chairman of the newly-constituted Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Board, Kamra.

He had been seen in action during the India-Pakistan war of 1971.

He was a recipient of the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-i-Basalat. —APP
