KARACHI, Feb 20: The Adviser on Finance to the Sindh Chief Minister, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, has called for making population, poverty, area and provincial revenue contribution to the centre as the basis for a just National Finance Award.

“There is no differences between the centre and provinces and all issues, including the NFC Award, will be settled through mutual understanding,” he said while speaking at a luncheon he hosted for the finance ministers of the NWFP and Balochistan here on Thursday.

Mr Shaikh said the centre would be collectively requested to disburse to the provinces their rightful share in time because a delay in the disbursement affected development schemes and also slowed down their pace.

It was agreed between the three that their provinces, rich in mineral resources, should get their share of royalty.

Mr Shaikh said the present government wanted to put right the injustices done in the past to the smaller provinces.

The adviser and the two ministers also decided to meet the finance minister of Punjab and to submit their recommendations to the federal government collectively. — APP
