KARACHI, Feb 20: Four ships carrying containers and steel coils are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as the port agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels.

Seven ships, Oriental Bright, Manhattan Bridge, Hyundai Highway and Astor to unload and load containers, Botany Treasure, to offload chemicals, Ocean-1 to load molasses, and Panos-G to unload general cargo were berthed after the departure of three.

The ships, which departed were led by Nur Yanbu, Global Prosperity and Manhattan Bridge, while Hyundai Highway, Botany Treasure, Al-Ishaa and Panos-G are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was fairly active where a total tonnage of 81,846 tons comprising 11,306 tons of export cargo and 70,540 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Friday: Mar Challenger, Kota Teraju, and Hansa India to unload and load containers and Guang Huamen with steel coils.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Feb 20: Two ships carrying chemicals and containers arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Thursday.

Berth occupancy also remained on higher side as seven ships, Sardinia, Maeva, Bunga Sagalima, Attila, Sea Pride-II, Keiko and Sea Magnolia were busy in loading/discharging containers, general cargo, furnace oil and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 58,261 tons comprising 46,174 tons of import cargo and 12,087 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 1,362 containers, was handled.

On sailing side three ships, Contship Innovator, Sea Pride-II and Sardinia sailed out, while Maeva was expected to leave the port.
