Lancers triumph
LAHORE, Feb 15: A last-gasp winner by Hussain Iftikhar and two goals by Azhar Ali helped Free Lancers annex the Brig R. G. Hyder Memorial Cup Polo title beating Sherwood 3-2 1/2 on Saturday.
With 1/2 goal handicap, Sherwood took the lead 1 1/2-0 through Adnan Lone who scored the only goal of the first chukker.
Free Lancers struck back in the next two chukkers when Azhar banged home a goal in each chukker. He scored his first goal converting a 30 yards penalty hit.
Azhar struck the second with a backhand shot in the third chukker
Maula Bakhsh again put Sherwood ahead 2 1/2-2. But Hussain scored a winner in the dying minutes to seal the fate of the match.
XXX came in third position after beating President Body Guard (PBG) by a narrow margin 7 1/2-6.
