Rich urged to help the needy

PESHAWAR, Feb 15: An eminent paediatrician has urged the well-to-do people to come forward and support the poor and the needy.

Dr Abdul Hameed, a professor at the Hayat Shaheed Teaching Hospital, made this plea at an Eid Milan party arranged by a social welfare organisation at Dheri Allahdand village.

He said there were so many rich people, and if they diverted a small portion of their wealth towards the cause of supporting the poor, then poverty could be alleviated from society quite easily.

He urged the district government Malakand to include certain demands of the village in the new ADP, like upgrading of basic health unit, Dheri Allahdand, to the rank of a civil hospital and provision of staff to the academic institutions of the village.

The function was followed by a free medical camp. —PPI
