PESHAWAR, Feb 15: The provincial local government commission on Saturday reviewed special audit reports and discussed the irregularities detected in the affairs of three district governments.
At a meeting, presided over by Local Government Minister Sardar Mohammad Idrees, the commission discussed the performance of the district governments of Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Kohistan.
The commission summoned the concerned district Nazims, DCOs and officials, and recorded their statements in the light of the audit reports, said a handout.
The commission asked the DCOs and district Nazims of Bannu and Kohistan to submit their points of view in three days and answer the allegations levelled against them by the audit team.
The commission constituted inspection teams and told them to inspect the ongoing as well as completed development schemes in Dera Ismail Khan and submit reports.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Idrees said the commission was formed to monitor the local government system and review its 17-month performance.
The minister said that before taking legal action against any person found involved in irregularities a chance would be given to him to present his point of view before the commission.
AMOUNT RELEASED: The finance department has released funds to the Town Council-II in Tank district for payment of salaries to the employees.
The provincial minister for local government and rural development had directed the Tank district administration to pay all the outstanding dues to the employees without any delay. The minister also advised the town council employees to call off the strike and resume duty.
