IMF mission coming tomorrow

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 14: A high-level International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) technical mission is scheduled to arrive here on Sunday to review the process of the customs administration reform plan.

An official source in the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) told Dawn on Friday that the Funds mission would hold a preliminary meeting with the chairman, CBR, on February 17 to discuss the progress on steps so far taken for the revamping of the customs administration.

The mission will hold meeting with senior officials of the reform team and foreign tax consultants to give final touches to the customs administration reform plan before it was implemented.

The proposed customs administration reform plan included two main parts — automation and re-engineering of process. The new proposed system included goods clearance in 24 hours.
