ISLAMABAD, Feb 9: The Asian Squash Federation (ASF) is making efforts to generate funds for purchasing a portable court which could be used by member countries on paying just the transportation charges.

This was disclosed at the Annual General Meeting of the ASF held in Rawalpindi on Sunday with the continental body’s president N. Ramachandran in the chair.

The house was told that the court would be placed in Singapore which is centrally located and any member could utilise the facility without having to pay rent.

A resolution put forward by PSF to enhance the entry fee for the Asian Junior and Senior Championships (from $250 and $500 to $500 and $1000 respectively) was dropped considering the financial status of the member countries.

It was pointed out that the voting rights be given to a person who represents as a proxy member. While accepting the presence of a proxy member the house did not agree to give voting rights to him/her.

It was also suggested that further efforts be made to improve the standard of refereeing so that the ASF panel has maximum referees and the member nations are not compelled to hire the services of officials from Europe.

The meeting was attended by Yousuf H. Mohsen (vice president ASF), Qamar Zaman (vice president), Srivatsan Subramaniam (secretary), Muneer Sait (treasurer), Air Vice Marshal Saleem A Nawaz (senior vice president, PSF), Wing Commander Sajid Waheed (secretary PSF), Cdr. Palitha Weerasinghe (Sri Lanka), Toni Choi (Hong Kong), Desmond Hill (Singapore), Raymond (Malaysia), Heather Deayton (Hong Kong) and Maj. S. Maniam (technical delegate).
