KARACHI: Arrangements made for cleanliness during Eid

KARACHI, Feb 9: The administrations of Baldia, Saddar, Korangi and North Karachi Towns have cancelled Eid holidays of their sanitary staff to ensure timely disposal of sacrificial animals’ offal and to maintain overall cleanliness in their areas.

The Baldia Town administration has set up ten emergency centres in the offices of the Nazimeen of its eight union councils and one on the premises of the Town administration.

The centres with their telephone Nos are: Baldia Town administration - 2817275); UC-1 - 2817785; UC-2 - 2817800); UC-3 - 2817700; UC-4 - 2814343, 2817529); UC-5 - 2811423-5; UC-6 - 2817711; UC-7 - 256477, and UC-8 - 2564850-2562287.

The sub-inspectors have been made incharge of each emergency centre while assistant town officer (sanitation) and two inspectors will supervise the offal-lifting work.

SADDAR: The Saddar Town announced on Sunday that it had set up emergency centres where people could lodge their complaints in case of any delay in the lifting of offal.

The complaint centres, which would work round-the-clock, have been set up at Saddar Town’s office (Tel 2626384, 9215094) and Khorri Garden office (2425292).

Arrangements have been made to sprinkle limestone powder and insecticides after removal of offal from roads and streets, besides, additional vehicles have been acquired on rent to ensure timely tlifting of offal, said a press release of the Town.

Saddar Town Nazim Farooq Fariya has directed the town’s health department to ensure cleanliness all around eidgahs, mosques and imambargahs, saying that commendation certificates would be given to those whose performance would be adjudged excellent.

He urged the concerned staff to plug water leakages on roads and streets and cover all the open manholes.

KORANGI: The Korangi Town administration has set up three committees for monitoring cleanliness arrangements in all the union councils of the town during Eidul holidays.

The Town administration has made arrangements at three places in the town to collect offal. All the union councils would collect and dispose of offal from 8am to 8pm daily.

The residents of the Town have been asked to register their complaints pertaining to unhygienic condition on Phone Nos 6699072 or Mobile 0300-9250122, 0300-2175249.

It has handed over 300 Suzuki pick-ups and other vehicles to the town and union councils, beside giving Rs10,000 to each union council to meet extra expenses during the holiday.

NORTH KARACHI: A meeting of the North Karachi Town administration held on Sunday with its Nazim Shafiqur Rehman Usmani in the chair decided that its emergency centre should function from 9am till late night.

The emergency centre can be contacted on Phone Nos 6950003-5- 8-9 while deputy town officer (sanitation) would be available on Mobile No 0300-8200405.

The meeting also decided to set up a monitoring cell to supervise the performance of the staff. The cell’s phone No is 6950003.
