Sacrificial animals a tough bargain

Published February 8, 2003

BAHAWALPUR, Feb 7: High prices of sacrificial animals have kept buyers away with less than a week before Eidul Azha.

A survey carried out by Dawn revealed that a small number of animals had been brought to the district this year because of their export to Karachi and the upper Punjab.

The intending buyers are, however, expecting to see more animals in the market coming from rural areas and Cholistan. People with meagre incomes have not much to bargain.

Comparing with the last two years, the prices of animals are much higher this year.
