KARACHI, Feb 7: The Sindh High Court issued on Friday notices to the respondents for Feb 21 on a writ petition moved by more than 60 students facing expulsion from Sindh Medical College.

Appearing for the petitioners, Advocate Mohammad Aqil submitted before a division bench, comprising Justice Mohammad Roshan Essani and Justice Mushir Alam, that the students had already completed three years of their five-year MBBS course. Even if their admission was irregular, they had a vested right to continue their education.

KESC bills: The Sindh High Court referred on Friday electricity bills amounting to Rs1.5 million issued by the KESC to the owner of a house in Liaquatabad to the electricity inspector for adjudication.

Rabia Begum and her son disputed the bills and the court restrained the KESC from harassing or employing coercive measures to recover the amount. The former moved another petition through Advocate Sohail Hameed on Friday, alleging that her son had been compelled to sign an agreement to pay the amount under duress.

A division bench, consisting of Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Mushir Alam, referred the case to electricity inspector for adjudication.
