KARACHI, Feb 6: Armed assailants attacked two theology teachers at an interval of five minutes in Joharabad on Thursday night. One of them died, and the other was critically injured.

The police said Falak Sher, aged 30, was riding a motorcycle (RND-6766) when he was shot and wounded near house No R-387 in Block 14 of Federal B Area. He was admitted to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he was stated to be in a critical condition, as a bullet had pierced through his head.

Five minutes later, Mohammed Ibrahim, aged 30, who was riding a bicycle was intercepted by unidentified men who, after a brief chat with him, shot and wounded him.

The police said Ibrahim was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was referred to the JPMC, but he died on way to the JPMC.

The police said both men taught Quran to children and were Qaris at Madina Masjid in Block 10 of Federal B Area.

A senior police official said none of the two men had any links with any religious or political party.

He said probably the same assailants attacked the two men.

KILLED: An elderly man was found murdered in his apartment in Ferozabad on Thursday morning.

The police said unidentified men barged into the apartment of Mohammed Karim, aged 75, at Central Commercial Area in PECHS and stabbed him in the abdomen some time late Wednesday night.

When Mohammed Hadi, Mohammed Karim’s brother, came to his elder brother’s apartment on Thursday morning he found his brother lying there in a pool of blood.

The police were informed. The body was sent to the JPMC for autopsy.

Quoting Mohammed Hadi, the police said no valuable was missing from the house, but household articles were found lying scattered in the apartment.

The dead man was a retired employee of an insurance company. He had been living alone after he divorced his wife 10 years back, the police added.

The police said bandits shot and wounded Mohammed Siddique, aged 25, when he put up resistance to them at his house in Machhar Colony.

He has been admitted to Civil Hospital.

A UC Nazim of Masroor, Khushnood, was shot and wounded in Khudadad Colony on Thursday.

He is brother of a slain deputy secretary-general of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement.

The police said 3-4 men opened fire on Khushnood and escaped. He suffered two bullet wounds: one to the shoulder and the other to a leg. He was admitted to a private hospital where he was stated to be out of danger.

The police did not find any empty at the place of incident.
