BD FM to visit Delhi over border crisis
By Our Correspondent
DHAKA, Feb 6: Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister M. Morshed Khan decided on Thursday to visit New Delhi following a telephonic invitation last night from his Indian counterpart Yashwant Sinha, to resolve the border crisis between the two countries.
Our Foreign Minister Morshed Khan would visit New Delhi at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Yashwant Sinha soon, Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, told reporters this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Indian media has reported that Bangladesh has taken back 213 people, whom Indian border guards were trying to force into Bangladesh territory, claiming that they were illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
In New Delhi, Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani said the “immediate crisis” was over, “... but the problem of illegal immigration remains which needs to be resolved,” the Press Trust of India news agency quoted him as saying.
But the Bangladesh foreign secretary said he had no evidence or information from own sources, when his attention was drawn to the Indian claims.
