RCITs meet today

ISLAMABAD, Feb 6: The government is likely to consider appointment of more legal advisers in each zone to make the working of the tax administration more efficient.

Official spokesman, Central Board of Revenue (CBR), Vakil Ahmed Khan said that the issue among others would be discussed in the Regional Commissioners of Income Tax (RCITs) Conference to be held in Karachi on Friday.

He said that the meeting would chalk out the modalities and functioning of the legal advisers and evaluate the performance of the existing one.

The spokesman further said that the RCITs would also discuss the revenue performance under the head of direct taxes so far achieved.

Mr. Khan said that he would meet the representatives of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Saturday to listen to their problems.

The member said that it was binding on all the taxpayers to maintain the record of their business related documents, which was necessary for universal self-assessment scheme.
