UNITED NATIONS, Feb 5: US Secretary of State Colin Powell said Wednesday that Iraq maintained active links with Osama bin Laden’s Al Qaeda network using its embassy in Pakistan as a “liaison” office.
“From the late 1990s until 2001, the Iraqi embassy in Pakistan played the role of liaison to the Al Qaeda organization,” Powell told the UN Security Council.—AFP
