KARACHI, Feb 2: Faced with criticism in the post-election situation owing to the emergence of turncoats, the Pakistan Peoples Party has replaced the party structure at the ward level in the city with the union council.

This was announced in a press conference by Haji Muzaffar Shujra and Habibuddin Junedi, president and joint secretary respectively of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Karachi chapter.

As part of the reorganization effort, the next step will be reorganization at the unit level. Haji Muzaffar Shujra said the reorganization was conducted by organizing committees which were vested with the authority to elect office-bearers for the union councils of their respective towns in accordance with the wishes of the workers.

He also condemned what he called victimization of the party chairperson, her spouse and other activists. He also accused the government of rigging the elections at various levels.
