Swat people lack health facilities

By Ali Hazrat Bacha

MINGORA, Feb 1: Despite spending some Rs30 million on construction and repair of the Civil Hospital, Khwazakhela, building the authorities of the health department are yet to provide staff and install equipments there.

The X-ray machine has been placed in a room, but due to low power voltage it cannot be operated. The people of Swat district are still facing a big problem due to non-availability of health facilities.

Specialist doctors have not been posted here so far. Only one dispenser is serving both the male and female wards of the hospital for the whole day. During a visit to the hospital on Friday it was learnt that in the laboratory a single technician is performing the duties of at least eight persons.

For the gynae ward only two female nurses have been appointed, but gynaecologist is yet to be transferred here.

Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussein Shah’s visit to the hospital had been scheduled twice, but he could not come. The people have demanded that the governor and the chief minister issue orders for the installation of the machinery.
