Mirpurkhas gets Rs53m for uplift

MIRPURKHAS, Feb 1: Thirty schemes, costing Rs122 million, have been approved under the Drought Emergency Relief Assistance programme for development works in the drought-affected areas of the district and Rs53 million has been released.

This was said by the DCO, Qabool Ahmed Shaikh, Mirpurkhas, at a briefing to journalists here on Friday at the circuit house.

He said that work on five schemes of roads was initiated and it would be completed by the end of June.

He said that the schemes were funded by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank and approved by the national standing committee, ministry of finance.

Referring to the scheme of buildings for shelterless primary school, he said that construction work of 36 such schools was initiated but the buildings were still incomplete due to non- availability of funds.

However, he added, the district government had decided to complete the buildings.

He said that under the third phase of the Khushhal Pakistan Programme, Rs16 million were allocated for water supply and roads schemes.

The DCO said that some irregularities were reported in utilization of Zakat fund at the local Civil Hospital and an inquiry report was sent to the district Nazim for action.
