By Our Correspondent

SHIKARPUR, Feb 1: A token hunger strike was observed by the activists of the Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party (STPP) in front of the press club on Friday to protest against the government for not paying attention towards settling tribal disputes, particularly the one between the Mehars and Jatois.

They appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Khan Mehar, the inspector general of police, Sindh, and the chieftains to take notice of the tribal disputes and settle them as soon as possible.

DEATH ANNIVERSARY: The 17th death anniversary of Fazil Rahoo was observed at the press club on Friday under the auspices of the Awami Tehrik Shikarpur.

The speakers — Dr Nazir Shaikh, Zafar Channa, Mumtaz Mangi, Mazhar Ujjan, Zahid Ghaloo, Hadi Butt, Karim Hakro, Mohammad Paryal, and Iqbal Detho — said that Fazil Rahoo was a devoted political and social activist who worked for the betterment of society.

MAN KILLED: A passenger, Mewal Shar, 30, was killed and eight others were injured when a wagon rammed into a tree on a section of the Sukkur-Shikarpur road, near the Jamra village, on Friday.

Seven of the injured were provided first aid at a hospital. The eighth, Ghulam Mohammad Shaikh, was admitted in the Civil Hospital as his condition was said to be serious.

NINE INJURED: Nine Soomro tribesmen were injured when their wagon collided with a truck on a section of the Sukkur-Shikarpur road, near Pir Bakhar village, on Friday.
