PPP decries ‘intimidation’

By Our Correspondent

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: Mian Raza Rabbani, Acting Secretary-General of the Pakistan People’s Party, has said that the government has once again started intimidating members of provincial assemblies to change their loyalties.

This was being done with the purpose of creating an artificial majority of the PML-Q in Senate, to ensure election of its nominee as the chairman, the PPP leader said in a statement issued here on Saturday.

“The main targets of this exercise are MPAs of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian, particularly of the Sindh province, where the PPP is the single-largest majority party. An attempt is being made to deprive the PPP of its legitimate majority share of Senate seats,” he said.
