KARACHI: Three cops arrested

KARACHI, Jan 31: Three policemen were arrested on Friday. They have been lodged in the lockup at the police station where they were posted after a case was registered against them under the new Police Order 2002.

The FIR was registered against ASI Aijaz Ahmed, head constable Sikandar Ali and constable Sohail Ahmed on the orders of CCPO Asad Ashraf Malik.

The three policemen of Federal B Industrial Area police station had intercepted a young man and a young girl riding a motorcycle. They forced them to pay Rs1,500 and let go of them on the condition that they would pay another Rs15,000.

The man and the girl approached senior police officers. After an inquiry, the CCPO issued orders for the arrest of the three policemen and registration of cases against them.

This is the second such case. Under the new Police Order.
