KARACHI, Jan 31: The Sindh High Court on Friday issued notice to the advocate-general on a medico’s petition against his disqualification for his ineligibility to get admission to the medical college he graduated from.
Petitioner Gohar Ali submitted that he passed his final MBBS exam from Sindh Medical College and was now doing house job. Not only was he a qualified doctor, but his performance in the job was also satisfactory. His result could not be cancelled nor his degree forfeited because of his alleged ineligibility to get admission.
A division bench, consisting of Justice Mohammad Roshan Essani and Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, directed that notices be issued to the advocate-general and other respondents for a date in office.
The bench also issued notice to a deputy attorney-general on a petition by an assistant professor of surgery at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College for his promotion to Grade-20. Petitioner Ghulam Asghar said he joined the medical service in 1979 and was already working in a Grade-20 job.
The bench disposed of another petition in terms of a KESC assurance that the petitioner, a domestic electricity consumer issued a Rs1.5 million bill, would not be harassed.
Petitioner Bunyad Ali submitted that his residence where the power meter was installed was not worth the amount of the bill. The KESC was conducting raids to arrest him for non-payment of the amount.
