LARKANA, Jan 30: Workers of various political and social welfare organizations on Wednesday staged a demonstration outside the local press club besides observing a token hunger strike to press the authorities for the acceptance of their demands.
A group of retired municipal employees of the Larkana Municipal Corporation blamed the taluka Nazim for having deliberately delayed the payment of their pensions for the past 10 months.
They demanded for early payments of their dues.
A group of people from the Shahmurad Abro village continued their token hunger strike for the second consecutive day on Wednesday to press the authorities to arrest the SHO of Rasheed Wagan police station, who had allegedly killed a villager, Quraban Mirjat.
Activists of the Sindh People’s Students’ Federation (SB) staged a demonstration in support of the villagers.
Around 15 of their activists, including Ghulam Nabi, Zubair Bhutto and Barakt Baloch, joined the villagers’ hunger strike.
Meanwhile, another group of the employees of the education department, led by Gul Mohammed Channa, observed a token hunger strike to press the authorities to take action against the EDO (education), Sukkur.—Correspondent
