KARACHI, Jan 28: Three accused in the Zuhair Akram Nadeem murder case who were convicted by the anti-terrorism court-II on Jan 20 filed on Tuesday their appeals in an anti-terrorism appellate bench against their conviction.
Accused Mohammed Dilawar alias Khan Sahib, Jehangir alias Kancha and Aslam Ali, all alleged to be workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, were sentenced to death by the ATC.
Barrister Azizullah Shaikh will represent the appellants before the ATA bench of the Sindh High Court.
ORDER RESERVED: Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany of the High Court of Sindh reserved order on a bail application filed by Maulana Ishtiaq, the chief of his own faction of the Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen.
Khawaja Naveed Ahmed, appearing for the applicant booked by the police in a Zina case (Enforcement of Hudood), maintained that the accused/applicant married Ms Sumaira after completion of Iddat. The marriage of the accused/ applicant with Ms Sumaira was duly solemnized, maintained the counsel for the applicant.
Shafi Mohammedi, advocate, appearing for complainant Siddique Memon, the chief of another faction of the Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen, contesting the contentions of the defence counsel, submitted that the marriage was illegally solemnized. After hearing both the sides, the court reserved its order. — APP
