Singh bounces back to clinch title
SCOTTSDALE (Arizona), Jan 27: Vijay Singh overcame a two-shot deficit and shot an eight-under-par 63 on Sunday to win the $4 million Phoenix Open.
Singh, twice a major champion, birdied five of his first six holes on his way to a 23-under-par 261 and three-stroke victory over John Huston.
Robert Gamez, South Africa’s Retief Goosen, Harrison Frazar and Tim Petrovic tied for third on 265, four behind Singh.
Singh, the world’s number seven player, earned $720,000 in winning his 12th career title on the PGA Tour.
