KARACHI: Workers threaten protest movement

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 26: Speakers at a workers meeting on Sunday demanded that the recently promulgated Industrial Relations Ordinance 2002 be abolished immediately.

They were speaking at the meeting organized in connection with a labour conference by the National Labour Federation (NLF) at the Railway Colony Kalapul.

They said that thousands of workers had been rendered unemployed by the government policy and warned if the government did not take positive decisions in its meeting with the representatives of the workers to be held on January 27, the trade union action committee would launch a countrywide protest movement.
