PESHAWAR, Jan 26: Governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that development strategies for the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas are being chalked out as the government has enhanced manifolds the funds for Fata.
Talking to a delegation of the tribal Ulema and elders of the South Waziristan Agency at the Governor’s House on Saturday he said that a multi-pronged approach had been adopted under which a large number of small development schemes had been launched under the Khushal Pakistan and Annual Development Programme.
The governor said that the development funds were being utilized keeping in view the demands and requirements of the people of the respective areas.
He ensured the judicious disbursement and utilization of the financial resources.
Mr Shah asserted that implementation of the development projects in tribal areas was not a favour to the people rather it was their due right.
He said that the problems of the people, affected by the construction of Gomal Dam, would be resolved amicably and announced the installation of a telephone exchange in the area.
LOWARI TUNNEL: Talking to delegation, led by MNA Abdul Akbar Chitrali, the NWFP Governor, Iftikhar Hussain Shah said that the government was committed to construct the Lowari Tunnel.
He said that the Lowari Tunnel and the Chitral-Gilgit Highway on completion would boost tourism and provide better communications facilities to the people.
The delegation apprised him of the people’s problems.
