WIESBADEN, Jan 24: Headline inflation in Germany remained firmly under control in January, preliminary consumer price data showed on Friday, even though higher oil prices were generating pressure further up the price pipeline.
The Federal Statistics Office calculated that the German consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.9 per cent in January from the figure for December and was 1.1 per cent higher than it had been in January 2002. In December, the cost of living had also risen by 1.1 per cent.—AFP
