Grant named British HC

LONDONDERRY (Ireland), Jan 22: The British government has appointed Mark Justin Lyall Grant its new High Commissioner to Pakistan in succession to Sir Hilary Synnot.

In an announcement, it was stated that Synnot will be leaving the diplomatic service; Grant will take his place in May.

Grant earlier served in Pakistan during the regime of the late military ruler, Gen Ziaul Haq, from 1982-1985 as third and second secretary at Islamabad Chancery in the information section.
