By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 22: Berthing activity at Karachi port on Wednesday was maintained on the higher side where all the new arrivals as well as those awaiting berths were accommodated.

Meanwhile, arrivals of foreign flag vessels have slowed down as only two ships are due on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Seven ships, which were allotted berths included Sinar Bontang, Iron-D, Bunga Mastiga, Kota Intan and APL Costa Rica, to unload and load containers, Mercs Kirinda to offload sugar for Afghanistan and Sorena to unload crude oil.

Sailing was also active as five ships, Golden Bay, Bunga Mastiga, Trade Selene, Kota Waruna and Al-Maqwa departed, while APL Costa Rica, Hyundai Advance, Kota Intan, Kota Teguh and Sorena are due to sail out on Thursday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was relatively slow as the total tonnage fell to 51,312 tons comprising 4,038 tons of export cargo and 47,274 tons of import cargo.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Hammurabi, with containers and Lena, with general cargo.
