KARACHI: Allotment of plots begins in Malir scheme
KARACHI, Jan 21: The implementation of steps taken for an early completion of the New Malir Housing Scheme was reviewed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of DCO Karachi Shafiqur Rehman Paracha here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the DCO directed that work on the scheme be expedited so that the poor and middle class allottees could get the plot to build their houses.
The meeting was informed that as a result of efforts by the chief secretary, the corps commander and the city Nazim, the long-pending dispute on a portion of the land for this housing scheme had been resolved and there remained no hurdle in the way for an early execution of the scheme.
It was stated that the process for allotment of land to allottees had started.
It was informed that planning and designing of another 2,500 plots in the scheme has completed and these will be allotted through computer ballot. It was decided that a special balloting ceremony for this purpose will be held at the scheme site on May 30.
The meeting was informed that complete planning and demarcation of plots in three sectors had been done. The construction of 2,000-feet long road, about 100 feet from the link road, has also been completed whereas demarcation 150 feet wide main road which runs from the National Highway to the scheme has also begun. It was decided that work on the main road will be started immediately.
It was informed that planning has been carried out for construction of a link road in Sector 11 and internal roads in Sectors 5 and 7 and estimates, thereof,l are being prepared. Estimates regarding internal roads of Sector 11 have been prepared and it would cost Rs 49 million.
The meeting was informed that allottees, who applied for refund of their money, are being paid back the same. But, now the number of those who wish to get the plot instead of refund, has increased.
It was decided that steps would be taken for making the Malir Housing Scheme a beautiful model scheme. For this purpose, massive plantation will be carried out. In Sector 11, different beautiful species of trees have been planted.
