Army to defend title

LAHORE, Jan 20: Army will defend its title in the 37th national athletics championship to be held at the Wapda Sports Complex, Kot Lakhpat from Wednesday.

In all, 14 teams will take part in the competitions which will be held in both the men’s and women’s category separately.

Wapda, last year runners-up is the host. Besides, Army and Wapda, the other teams are Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Railways, Police, Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Pakistan Universities, Balochistan, NWFP, Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad and Azad Jammu Kashmir.

On the first day four finals will be decided besides six heats.

The finals will be held in shot put for women, pole vault for men, 1000 metres race for men and hammer throw for women.
