Two POs killed in ‘encounter’

SIALKOT, Jan 20: Two proclaimed offenders were killed on Monday in an encounter with the Sambrial police in Bela area, Daska.

SI Muhammad Akram and some other policemen were bringing back POs Sikandar and Riaz to Sambrial police station after getting their physical remand from a Daska court. Near Sehjokey village on the Daska-Sambrial Road, four armed men stopped the vehicle and got freed both the POs and fled towards the Bela area in a car. The outlaws opened fire when the police chased them.

The police returned the fire and shot dead both the POs and injured another criminal who managed to escape along with their accomplices. Their bodies were shifted to the Sialkot DHQ Hospital for autopsy. Police also recovered a Kalashnikov and some illegal weapons which were lying beside the dead bodies. They were involved in several cases of murder, dacoity and robbery incidents.
