KARACHI: Nazim puts ban on hides collection


KARACHI, Jan 20: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, in exercise of his powers vested under Section 144 of Cr. PC, has banned any kind of publicity, establishment of camps or centres and collection of hides in Karachi on Eidul Azha.

In an order issued from the secretariat of City District Government Karachi on Monday, he stated that since there are reports that different groups are likely to snatch hides of sacrificial animals by force from charity organizations on the eve of Eidul Azha on 11 and 12 Zilhaj, and that in order to prevent danger to human lives and disturbance to public peace, it is expedient to prohibit establishment of hides collection centres on roads, streets, roundabouts by pitching of Shamianas, Kanats or otherwise within jurisdiction of City District Government Karachi.

The order states that no person, agency, association and organization shall collect hides in camps, vehicles, on roads, bungalows and offices. The order also prohibits publicity for such collection by advertisements, banners, handbills announcements, chalking or any other means, provided, however, with express prior approval, in writing, of City Nazim, or authorized officer to this behalf.

Moreover, establishment of centres on roads, streets and roundabouts by pitching of Shamianas, Kanats or otherwise for collection of hides by use of loudspeakers fitted in vehicles for the purpose is prohibited for security and safety of general public within the jurisdiction of city district government Karachi.

The order shall come into force from Jan 21 and shall remain in force for seven days from the commencement of the order.

The City Nazim has also banned setting up of unauthorized cattle markets (Bakra Pirees) in the city limits on Eidul Azha.

In an order issued Monday, the City Nazim stated that unauthorized and illegal cattle markets crop up at various places in Karachi for selling sacrificial animals on the occasion of Eidul Azha, causing traffic jams and insanitation.

There is also an apprehension of violence and breach of peace which may endanger human life and property.

The order further states that in order to facilitate the people, official Bakra Pirees have been allowed to be established at main Hub river road near Willayat Ali Shah Mazar, Baldia town; main Super Highway, Scheme-33; Shah Latif town, Sector 22, Bin Qasim Town; Bakra Piree road, Malir town; Khuramabad Ground near Rice Godown Mehran Highway Landhi and main Manghopir Road near Javedan Cement Factory, SITE town, Karachi.

The order shall come into force with immediate effect.—PPI
