HYDERABAD, Jan 18: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar has said that job-oriented projects will be initiated to reduce rampant unemployment in the province.

He was talking to the elected representatives of Hyderabad district at the Bhit Shah rest house on Saturday.

He expressed concern over the state of affairs, prevailing in the educational institutions of Sindh.

He deplored that in many areas, buildings were constructed for the schools but they had neither staff nor furniture, and added that necessary facilities would be made available in the educational institutions.

He stressed upon the elected representatives to join hands with the government for bringing about radical changes in social sector, specially health and education.

The chief minister said that it would be the policy of his government to take along all political parties and groups with it for progress of the province.

Mr Mahar said that law and order was also an important issue in the province and the government had directed the police to make all out efforts for the elimination of crime.

He warned that the strict action would be taken against delinquent police officers.

He said that he would undertake an exhaustive tour of different districts of Sindh to know about their problems.

The chief minister said that he would also pay a visit to Hyderabad to ascertain the problems of the district.

On the request of the Hyderabad district Nazim for funds for completion of thre pending Phuleli development scheme, Mr Mahar assured that he would issue directives in this regard.

He also promised that the upgradation of rural health centre of Matiari to the level of taluka hospital would be considered.

On the occasion, Hyderabad District Nazim Hyderabad Makhdoom Dr Rafiquzzaman, MNA Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair and others highlighted the problems of the Hyderabad city and the district.

Latifabad Taluka Nazim Abdul Jabbar informed the chief minister about the plight of 191 sacked primary teachers and collapse of the sewerage system of Latifabad. Mr Mahar promised to look into the matters.

Mr Mahar laid a floral wreath on the shrine of the great sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai and offered fateha.

Later, the chief minister attended a lunch, hosted by Rafiquzzaman, and then, departed for Karachi.

DADU: Earlier, the Sindh chief minister told newsmen in Sehwan that the sugarcane purchase crisis would be resolved soon by bounding down the sugar mill managements to purchase sugarcane on the government-fixed rate.

Otherwise, he warned that the action would be taken against the managements of the mills.

He said that the officials of the PHP gas company had been invited at a meeting, where they would be asked to provide jobs to the indigenous population.

He said that the Sindh government had not helped any candidate in the by-elections and added that the defeated candidates were spreading false propaganda against the provincial government.

Deploring overflowing drains and dilapidated roads of Sehwan town, which received millions of devotees each year, he said that, on the recommendation of Dadu District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar, he would soon provide special grant for the development of Sehwan.

The chief minister also held a meeting with the officers of different government departments at the irrigation rest house, where development projects and law and order situation in the district was discussed.

He directed the police officers to improve law and order situation in their areas and provide protection to the people.
