PESHAWAR: Lawyer booked for Rs4m fraud

PESHAWAR, Jan 18: The city police have registered an FIR against a senior lawyer Haji Maqsood Ahmad on the directives of the Peshawar High Court for allegedly misappropriating Rs4 million of Koh Daman Oil Mills, Dera Ismail Khan.

The complainant in the case, High Court Registrar Saleem Khan Minakhel, has lodged the FIR at the East-Cantt police station.

The Koh Daman Oil Mills had acquired loans from different financial institution, but did not pay back the money, and finally, the company judge of the High Court, Justice Khalida Rachied, issued an order for the mills’ liquidation.

Advocate Haji Maqsood was appointed an official liquidator of the said mills.

According to the FIR, the Koh daman Oil Mills was auctioned for Rs13 million, but the company judge came to know that the liquidator had misappropriated Rs4 million in the deal.

In spite of court orders Haji Maqsood failed to return the money.
