COLOMBO, Jan 18: Leader of the Opposition PA, Mahinda Rajapakse said on Friday that the party would be forced to topple the ruling United National Front if the rising inflation was not controlled.

In what is seen as a move that will succeed in creating upheaval in the rule of the UNP, the Marxist party media spokesperson, Wimal Weerawanse when interviewed yesterday said that his party would support the PA to ‘expose’ the UNP.

In a separate campaign both the Marxist party as well as the PA in separate measures are continuing its opposition towards the ‘manner’ of the peace process pointing out that the right of way is being completely given over to LTTE.

Mising soldiers: The ICRC media spokesperson, Sukumar Rockwood, in an interview with Dawn said that the ICRC will begin immediate action to find out about 20,000 soldiers still categorized as missing. This response from the ICRC comes despite there being a statement from the LTTE that there is no ‘large numbers’ of prisoners of war held by them.
