Madressah head files complaint with police

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Jan 16: The head of G-9 Madressah, Fida Mohammad Khan, on Thursday lodged a formal complaint with the Margalla police saying that some persons raided the seminary in the early hours of Tuesday.

The complainant said about 10 to 15 unidentified persons entered the Madressah, woke up the students and searched their rooms.

“The intruders, who appeared to be westerners, were accompanied by two interpreters. They started questioning about Arab Mujahideen and Al Qaeda,” Mr Khan said in his complaint.

HE SAID: “They took three attendance registers and also inquired about the expenses of the Madressah. While leaving the Madressah, they blindfolded Khasta Gul, the cook, and took him with them.”

Khasta Gul was, however, freed after a few hours, the complainant said.

Meanwhile, a press note issued by the district magistrate Islamabad said no raid was conducted by the capital police or any other agency.

The statement of the Muhtamim of the Madressah is self-contradictory and lacks proper substantiation. However, the DSP Investigation has been asked to initiate further inquiry into the matter, the press note said.

A committee, comprising assistant commissioner (rural), deputy director (Auqaf) and assistant superintendent of police (I-9), has been constituted by the deputy commissioner to probe the matter.

APP ADDS: The senior superintendent police (SSP), Islamabad, Syed Kaleem Imam, has denied that a raid had been conducted on Madressah Subhania on Monday night.

“No raid was conducted on any Madressah in the federal capital by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, local police or any other investigation agency,” the SSP said.

“We have thoroughly investigated the case and did not get even a single clue about the so-called FBI raid,” he added.
