KARACHI: 3-day cardio moot opens tomorrow

KARACHI, Jan 15: A three-day international workshop on non-surgical methods to treat heart conditions will open at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases on Friday. Pakistani and foreign cardiologists will be participating.

According to a press release, patients from all over Pakistan have registered for various types of cardiovascular procedures, to be performed jointly by local and foreign experts. New techniques and equipment will be on display during sessions the footage of which will be relayed to medical centres in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Singapore and New York.

Cardiologists in Rawalpindi and Lahore, through two-way video-conferencing, will also be taking part in live discussions and learning as well as teaching one another.

For the first time, telemedicine techniques will thus be utilized to the full, added the handout.
