KARACHI, Jan 15: Five ships carrying containers, crude oil, jute and to load molasses are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves gathered momentum thanks to steady arrivals of the delayed ships. As a result, seven ships, Bunga Massatu, MOL Sincerity, APL Cairo to unload and load containers, Islamabad to offload general cargo, Californian Highway to unload vehicles, Crux to offload gas oil and Warbah to unload high speed diesel.

Three ships, Bunga Massatu, Hyderabad and Californian Highway departed, while APL Cairo, Crux, Al-Manakh and Warbah are due to sail out on Thursday.

Owing to steady berthing, the cargo handling activity also showed a sizeable expansion as the total tonnage rose to 83,510 tons comprising 12,436 tons of export cargo and 71,074 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Della to load molasses, Al-Cyonida, with crude oil, Kota Tegap and Global Progress, with containers and Bunga Kallol, with 9,533 tons of jute.

KARACHI, Jan 15: A cargo volume of 65,611 tons comprising 56,686 tons of import cargo and 8,925 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 585 containers (Teus), was handled during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Six ships, P&O Nedlloyd Dameitta, Medi Manila, Popi-S, Pearl of Jeddah, Mutaira and Tasman Spirit were busy in loading/ unloading containers, coal, edible oil and furnace oil respectively.

Another ship, Edna carrying containers also arrived at the outer anchorage during the period. Eastern Liberty and Edna were expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal and QICT.
