PM to address NALC

GILGIT, Jan 12: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali during his proposed visit to the quake-hit parts of Northern Areas would address the session of Northern Areas Legislative Council, NALC sources told Dawn.

Sources said that the PM is likely to visit this month as Chief Executive of Northern Areas, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, has assured the deputy chief executive and Speaker of Northern Areas Legislative Council in this regard.

Sources said that since the Jamali government was taking keen interest in the development of Northern Areas so he would personally review the relief and rehabilitation activities going on for the last two months for the quake-affected people in the Diamer district.

They added that both leaders were in Islamabad to apprise the government of the difficulties being faced by the quake- victims in subdivision Astore and Chilas where more than 36 people are said to have perished and thousands displaced.
