Progressive parties asked to get united

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Jan 12: The Balochistan National Democratic Party (BNDP) has asked the nationalist and progressive parties to launch a joint struggle for the restoration of real democracy.

The newly-elected President of the BNDP, Mir Hasil Khan Bezenjo was speaking at a news conference with Shakeel Baloch and other party leaders, here on Saturday.

He said that the party’s central committee in its recent meeting had decided to establish contact with all nationalist and progressive parties in this regards.

He informed the reporters that the party’s central committee had formed a five-member negotiation team which included, Mir Hasil Khan Bezenjo, Shakeel Baloch, Sardar Sanaullah Zahri, Sadaat Hazara, and Saeed Faiz.

Mir Bezenjo said that the team would work for the restoration of real democracy and 1973 Constitution.

“Despite elections an individual was running the affairs of the country,” he remarked and added that instead of restoring the Constitution, Legal Framework Order (LFO) had been imposed on the country.”

He said that the judiciary, administration, and election commission were not free and in this situation nationalist and progressive parties should play their role.

Referring to the possible US attack on Iraq, he condemned the American intentions and demanded of the government not to be an instrument in the US’s nefarious designs.
