MIRPURKHAS, Jan 12: PPP MNA Nawab Mohammad Yousaf Talpur has said that the agriculture sector, especially in Sindh, is being destroyed in a systematic way by the government.

A press release issued on Sunday said that the member of the central executive committee of the PPP, talking to a delegation of sugarcane growers from Mirpurkhas, said that 70 per cent of the people of Pakistan earning livelihood through agriculture sector were being pushed into poverty through anti-grower policies by the regime.

He said that the government’s inability to ensure good prices for agriculture produce and artificial irrigation water shortage in Sindh proved that it was bent upon increasing poverty level instead of its alleviation.

Mr Talpur said that abetted by some turncoats and opportunists the government had caused immense loss to the democracy. Unemployment had given rise to the suicide attempts, he added.

He claimed that Pakistan and its people could only benefit if liberal policies were implemented.
