Published January 13, 2003

KARACHI, Jan 12: A large number of students belong to the Jammu and Kashmir National Students’ Federation on Sunday staged a protest demonstration in front of the Karachi Press Club against a possible US attack on Iraq.

Speaking on the occasion, the JKNSF Karachi chief, Aftab Ahmad, condemned the United States for its threatening posture against smaller nations.

He urged the government not to provide any kind of support to the aggressor who wanted to have an unrestricted control over the natural resources of Iraq.

Only recently the US-led forces had bombed and destroyed Afghanistan and killed thousands of people including women, children and the elderly, he added.

He said that the motive behind the US aggression against Afghanistan was to get access to the vast natural resources in Central Asia, while now it was eying on the huge oil deposits of Iraq.

The demonstrators were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans condemning the US and in support of Iraq. They also raised anti-American slogans.
